Terms and conditions of monthly membership
By purchasing a monthly membership, you accept these terms and conditions and UniSport’s general terms of use. These terms and conditions define the duration of the membership, payment practices and conditions of termination. Please read the terms and conditions carefully.
1. Duration of membership
- Monthly membership starts with a fixed-term contract period of 12 months, during which it cannot be terminated. After this period, the membership will remain in force until further notice.
- The start date of the membership must be specified when purchasing the membership. Membership can begin at the time of purchase or at the latest 30 days from the time of purchase, unless otherwise specified in promotional terms and conditions, for example.
- Membership periods begin on the same day each month, for example on 17 January, 17 February and 17 March. Therefore, the length of one membership period is 28–31 days.
2. Cancellation of membership
- For a recurring membership, the notice period is one full membership period. In other words, the membership will end at the close of the period following cancellation.
- You must always cancel your membership online (by logging in to your profile), through customer service or by email. Failure to pay the monthly fee does not constitute cancellation. Cancellation of the membership does not remove any prior payment obligation.
3. Terms of payment
- The first monthly fee is paid at the time of purchase. After that, the fee will be automatically debited from your card every month approximately two weeks before the beginning of the new membership period. For a monthly membership, the details of a valid payment card must be entered in the system. The customer is responsible for ensuring that the payment card is valid and that it has sufficient funds for the monthly membership fee to be charged.
- If the monthly fee cannot be charged from the card, the fee will be charged from the customer balance. If there is no balance or it is insufficient to cover the monthly fee, a new attempt to charge the card will be made the following night.
- The charge will be retried every day for 15 days.
- Membership can also be paid for with exercise vouchers:
- The first instalment can be paid online or at our customer service desk.
- The following instalments can be paid at our customer service desk by using exercise vouchers to pay for the chosen amount of monthly fees in advance.
4. Failure to pay
- If the monthly fee is not paid before the start of a new membership period, the right to use the services will end when the unpaid membership period begins. The customer's payment obligation will remain in force for a fixed term of 12 months, and thereafter until the customer cancels their membership.
5. Proof of discount entitlement
- Customers entitled to a discount must provide proof of this at the time of purchase and annually thereafter, excluding pensioners of Aalto University, the University of Helsinki, the University of the Arts, and Hanken, who are only required to prove their discount entitlement at the time of purchase. Proof can be provided either by logging in to HAKA online or through customer service. If proof of the grounds for the discount is not presented within one year of the date on which proof was previously presented, the membership will end at the close of the term underway.
6. Prices and price changes
- The monthly membership prices for different customer groups are displayed on our website. We reserve the right to change the prices of recurring memberships. Price changes are always announced on our website and by email no later than 2 months before the changes are to take effect. If you have a recurring membership and do not want to extend it at the new price, you can cancel your membership before the change takes effect.

8. Satisfaction guarantee and right of cancellation
- Membership comes with a seven-day satisfaction guarantee. The guarantee period starts when the membership enters into force, at the latest 30 days after purchase. During this period, the customer has the right to cancel the membership and recover the full price without providing a separate reason.
- Under the Consumer Protection Act (chapter 6, section 14), a service purchased online can be cancelled within 14 days. Customer service must be notified of the cancellation by email (unisport.asiakaspalvelu@helsinki.fi) within 14 days of the purchase, and the services may no longer be used once the cancellation notification has been submitted. UniSport has the right to charge a fee for any UniSport services the customer has used before their cancellation notification.
9. Entry into force
- The agreement comes into being and enters into force when the customer accepts these terms and conditions when making the purchase online or at customer service. The terms and conditions and general terms of use will also be sent to the customer by email in connection with the purchase.
