Special Expertise
I take a holistic approach to client care, always keeping the client’s best interests in mind. About ten years of experience working with clients in the field of massage has given me confidence and insight into my practice. I understand what can be achieved through massage in various situations and when other tools—such as exercises or other forms of manual therapy—are needed in combination with massage over the long term.
When it comes to the upper body, I am accustomed to treating patients with issues in both the neck and shoulder area as well as the lower back and pelvic region. My studies in foot therapy have also provided additional insight into the holistic understanding of stress on the feet and its effects on the upper body.
I strive to treat each client as an individual and, through an interview and/or anatomical examination, assess what type of treatment is most likely to benefit them. My massage style emphasizes sports massage techniques, and I work with the client to determine the appropriate intensity for the treatment. In particular, problem areas causing specific discomfort require a firmer massage, but the massage should never feel unpleasant. The key is to work with the client to find a level of pressure for the treatment that the client is comfortable with. The pressure of the massage should not be fixed but should depend on the client’s needs and preferences. Ultimately, the goal is for the client to find relief from the challenges that led them to seek treatment and to experience an improvement in their well-being through massage.
My hobbies include orienteering, trail running, skiing, mountain biking, and working out at the gym. As a junior, I also played several different ball sports, from ice hockey to squash.
