During floor demolition work, structural issues related to older construction methods were discovered. As a result, the floor must be completely dismantled and rebuilt to make it suitable for gym use. The work also requires sufficient drying time for the structures, which will delay the furnishing and commissioning of the sports centre.

Although the opening must be postponed by a few months, it is essential that all necessary repair work is carried out carefully and safely. This will allow us to open the sports centre to users in a high-quality condition and ready for long-term use. According to the current schedule, UniSport Viikki will open during the first part of 2027. In the meantime, all other UniSport sports centres will remain available as normal with a UniSport membership.
