VAT change to the prices of the University of Helsinki and Aalto University starting 1 January 2018

VAT increase will affect UniSport's prices concerning the students and staff of Aalto University and the University of Helsinki.

At the turn of the year, UniSport prices will change. The changes concern the student and staff prices of the University of Helsinki and Aalto University. The prices will be subject to a VAT increase.

Before, sports services provided by UniSport have not included VAT for the abovementioned customer groups. The prices have complied with the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court (19 Jan 2005 deposit copy 95).

Starting from 1 January 2018, sports services by UniSport will however include VAT for everyone based on the new decision KHO:2017:86 by the Supreme Administrative Court. In this new decision, the Supreme Administrative Court states that the services sold to these customer groups constitute as business activity and are therefore subject to VAT. The VAT for sports services will therefore be 10% starting 1 January 2018.
