Carnival Samba

Carnival samba is all about the joy and rhythmic movement of the carnival!

The carnival samba is a form of music and dance that originated in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. During the course, we look at the lively individual dance that is part of the Rio Carnival tradition. This is energetic and expressive theatre in which the joy and emotions of the dance are proudly communicated to the public through graceful reaction to the music. During the course you will get to know the carnival samba’s groovy terminology, we will do some short choreographed pieces and solo dances too. The dance involves both soft and sharp movements, in keeping with the change of rhythm, and these exercise the body comprehensively; without sparing the pelvis or thoracic spine.

Bring stretchy sports clothes and a drinking bottle, a small sweat towel and indoor shoes suitable for dancing.
